Mayra Samaniego Ph.D. Candidate; Researcher of Distributed Ledger Technologies, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Computer Science Department, University of Saskatchewan

Mayra Samaniego is a Ph.D. Candidate and Researcher of Distributed Ledger Technologies, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Smart Spaces in the Computer Science Department at the University of Saskatchewan. She received her Master’s degree in the field of Blockchain and Internet of Things from the University of Saskatchewan.

Mayra leads the development of a collaborative platform using blockchain. This platform allows researchers from anywhere to share phenotyping data and access tools for segmentation, annotations and classification in real-time with high-security standards. Additionally, her research seeks to guarantee intellectual property rights and the ethical use of data.

Mayra’s research plays a fundamental role in accelerating research collaborations with
institutions around the world, which will generate rapid results to face resource depletion, and
feeding needs. Thus, we can get the most benefit from phenotyping data to support global food
security.
