Bill Kerr is a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics at the University of Saskatchewan. He has a BA in International Relations from the University of British Columbia, 1969, an MA in Economics (Trade and Development) from Simon Fraser University, 1973 and a PhD in Economics and Agricultural Economics from University of British Columbia, 1981. He was a member of the Economics Department at University of Calgary from 1980 until 1999 and Professor of Economics from 1989. He joined the University of Saskatchewan in 1999 as Van Vliet Professor of International Trade. The focus of his research is international trade and international commercial policy. Trade and food security, trade in the products of biotechnology and the international protection of intellectual property are current research interests.
